Today we take a listen to the Pachyman track “Big & Easy,” off his In Dub LP due out July 12th via Permanent Records. The work of the artist Pachy García, also of Prettiest Eyes, his newest effort is a foray into the world of Jamaican reggae and dub. They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery and Pachyman’s tribute to Channel One Studios, the Roots Radics band, and legendary producers like King Tubby, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and Scientist is spot on!

Recorded between January and March of this year at his 333 House, Pachyman plays all the instruments on the record and is also responsible for its’ dub-influenced production. One listen to “Big & Easy” reveals this musician’s studied ear. You’d be forgiven if you thought this was a long lost cut from Channel One’s house band The Revolutionaries as García nails a real vintage sound here. Bass and drums set an amiable groove while a sunny backbeat reverberates a solar vibe. With his echo and reverb effects dialed in, Pachyman provides heady splashes of guitar while drums roll off into the distance like a storm on the far horizon.
