Tropical Fuck Storm‘s latest missive from the Australian outback is called “Paradise,” and it is a lover’s blood-letting that comes curdled in the kind of bitterness you just can’t fake. The four-piece is currently readying their Braindrops LP for release on August 23rd via Joyful Noise Recordings. In addition, the band launches their North American tour on August 28th. You can check out the upcoming dates after the YouTube embed below.
Tropical Fuck Storm features singer/songwriter Gareth Liddiard of The Drones, as well as his bandmate, bass player Fiona Kitschin. The band also includes guitar player Erica Hung (Harmony/Palm Springs) and drummer Lauren Hammel (High Tension). Braindrops was recorded at their Dodgy Brothers Studio in the outback of regional Victoria and it follows up on the group’s 2018 effort, A Laughing Death In Meatspace.
We last heard from these Aussie’s in March when they released a 7″ and video for “The Planet Of Straw Men.” On this new track, they pour The Velvet Underground, Royal Trux, and Pussy Galore into a cocktail shaker. Laced with a heavy dose of spleen, this noisy, off-kilter cut is a toxic brew. Liddiard leads the crew down a dark alley of twisted emotions while the band provides a lovesick mangling of the Blues. Just when it seems like the singer can’t take any more of this emotional abuse, a chorus of Sirens emerge from the din to remind him: “Everything dies/and that’s the way it’s always been.” Ouch.
