Let’s finish the week with a remix of KAZU‘s track “Meo” by the Canadian producer Jacques Greene. The Montreal born and raised musician, real name Philippe Aubin-Dionne, has produced for vocalists like Katy B, Tinashe and How To Dress Well. In addition to remixes for artists like Radiohead and Shlohmo, Greene has worked closely with cult Canadian designer Rad Hourani and art institutions including London’s Tate Modern.
“Meo” first appeared as the soundtrack to the Adult Baby visual album trailer directed by Eva Michon. KAZU’s original version starts as a stripped-down and intimately recorded confessional with keys and vocals, before bursting into crepuscular swirls of strings and drums. Greene’s remix switches focus a bit layering vocals, keys, and bass into trippy loops while at times adding Greene’s trademark House inflections thru a subtly backing kick drum.
KAZU recently toured the US with Blonde Redhead and she will return in October to perform songs from her first solo LP Adult Baby. You can check out the upcoming tour dates after the Spotify embed below.
