The LA-based producer PBDY has a brand new single entitled “Eucalyptus & Lavender / So Help Me (DOG)” out now via Brainfeeder. The artist, whose real name is Paul Preston, has been a resident selector/DJ for the label for nearly eight years running building mixes and hosting radio shows, in-stores, and afterparties. Additionally, Preston has toured the world with Thundercat, Flying Lotus, and The Cinematic Orchestra.
The musician’s first forays into the realms of production happened in 2017 when he joined forces with Jeremiah Jae under the moniker JP Moregun. In 2018 Preston returned with his first solo outing under the PBDY moniker releasing the track “Bring Me Down (feat. Salami Rose Joe Louis)”, on the 10th-anniversary compilation Brainfeeder X.
PBDY’s newest single features guitar from Jeff Parker (Tortoise, Isotope 217), viola from Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, and drums from Justin Brown (Thundercat, Ambrose Akinmusire). Parker’s delicate guitar work simmers through swirls of strings before Brown’s syncopated drumming sets “Eucalyptus & Lavender / So Help Me (DOG)” soaring to cosmic dimensions.
