Today we take a listen to the new Reduction Plan track “Deliver.” The brooding and industrial cut is off the post-punk trio’s upcoming LP (Ae)Maeth due out September 20th via Redscroll Records (vinyl)/Dune Altar (Cassette). The album title draws inspiration from the ancient folklore tale of the Golem. Made from clay and brought to life when the word “maeth,” or “truth,” is written on its’ head, the creature’s life comes to an end when erased letters leave only “maeth”, or “death,” inscribed.
The upcoming record finds Reduction Plan’s Daniel Manning working closely with producer/engineer Kevin McMahon (Swans, The Walkmen, Pile) to help shape his home recordings into finely tuned compositions. (Ae)Maeth also features musical contributions from Luis Durango (also a member of Reduction Plan) and Jack Tomascak, as well as vocals from Boy Harsher’s Jae Matthews.
Discussing the newest single from their forthcoming album, the band explains:
“Deliver” is a song about release – any sort of short reprieve from painful monotony and the frivolous nature of the every-day. It’s a scream into the void, begging for something to break through. The lyrics are intentionally repetitive, with slight variation, to reflect that monotony. There’s a sense of urgency to the lyrics as well, driven by the encroaching feeling that our window of opportunity to get fulfillment out of life is closing fast.”
