Salami Rose Joe Louis has a new single entitled “Sitting with Thoughts” off her upcoming Zdenka 2080 LP due out August 30th via Brainfeeder. The producer, real name Lindsay Olsen, is currently on tour with Flying Lotus as she awaits the release of her new album. Conceptual in nature, Zdenka 2080 chronicles a dystopian future in which governments and corporations have drained the earth of its’ solar energy in an attempt to power a space-traveling super-ship.

“Sitting with Thoughts” has a woozy, watery quality to the production giving it an off-kilter and emotional bent. Olsen explains that, as far as the album goes, the track is a “melancholy love song sung to the fading sun.” But, the cut also has a deeper, personal significance for the musician. She explains:

“This song came about shortly after the passing of my grandmother, who was one of my favorite people in the world. I was reflecting on all the love I had in my life while simultaneously feeling distant and isolated due to personal grief. I was inspired by a collaboration I did with the painter Muzae Sesay. He painted a beautiful piece with similar themes and I wrote this song to match the feeling his painting evoked. It?s a song about loss, isolation, and love.”

While you’re at it, don’t miss the Salami Rose Joe Louis’ tracks “Octagonal Room” / “Cumulous Potion (For The Clouds To Sing).” Out this past July, the double single was our first listen in on Zdenka 2080.
