Watch: Nervous Curtains “Fatal Flaw”

Nervous Curtains have a new video for their track “Fatal Flaw” off the group’s upcoming LP I Tried To Fight It But I Was Inside It out August 9th via Dreamy Life Records. The visuals are directed by Grant Ring and they feature Mallory McCall and Ely Sellers of the musical performance art group SuperMook. An “absurdist dystopian vision,” the video is a perfect accompaniment to this track’s tightly wound sonic angst.

With the social order collapsing all around them, a pair of news hosts attempt to narrate the last days with increasingly ridiculous results. Vocalist/keyboardist Sean Kirkpatrick explains:

“The modern corporate, profit-driven 24-hour news cycle does nothing to inform the viewer or help create an informed electorate. As the world inches past the point of no return with regards to widespread ecological disaster, rising fascist movements, escalating violence, addiction epidemics, and economic collapse fueled by neoliberal privatization and corporate greed, cable news programs cycle narratives of sensationalist scandal, reality television celebrity, and repetitive bias-confirming outrage.”

“This content ushers in buckets of advertising revenue with no regard to the real-world consequences it creates by dividing and misinforming the masses, amplifying dangerous rhetoric and ideology, and propping up demagogues who boost its ratings…this video is, by no means, meant to disparage the freedom of the press or to devalue the relentless work of actual journalists who seek to bring about truth and justice through their often dangerous and courageous work.”
