Oh Sees have a brilliant new video for their track “Captain Loosely.” Directed by Matt Yoka, these powerful visuals were shot on the border of the United States and Mexico. While Yoka’s extensive work includes music videos for artists like Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees, he has also explored social and political issues for Viceland TV.
In this new video for “Captain Loosely,” Yoka grapples with the tragedy at our nation’s border using moving and poetic imagery. Combining his role as journalist or documentarian with that of the artist, he has created a work that is subtly layered and capable of delivering devastating truth. Oh Sees’ “Captain Loosely” provides a gripping sonic backdrop as freeze-dried cosmic skronk filters through the air like an intoxicating cloud of lies.
You can find Oh Sees’ “Captain Loosely” on their upcoming LP Face Stabber due out August 16th on Castle Face Records. While you’re at it, don’t miss some of our favorite previous video efforts from Matt Yoke like Thee Oh Sees’ “Dead Man’s Gun” or Ty Segall’s “Manipulator.”
