Raveyards return this week with a brilliant new video for their single “Cid Com.” We last heard from the Belgian-based post-electronic project this past April when they released their hypnotizing, time-lapsed visuals for “Fazer.” The groups’s newest offering finds Francois de Meyer and crew hooking up with fellow Belgians, the animation and art trio Lion Beach.

“Cid Com” is a poignant tale with multiple levels of relevance. The video’s opening text explains: “Around one million years ago an object humans deemed worthless trash left earth’s orbit.” This migrating piece of space garbage would eventually land on the remote planet of Cid Com, five galaxies away, where it would go on to be worshipped by local inhabitants.

Sonically, “Cid Com” finds Raveyards morphing thru a variety of electronic styles as they craft a thrilling composition that seems to surprise at every turn. Lion Beach follows suit with gorgeous animation of this distant planet. Featuring a protagonist with a smiley face that harkens back to the rave days of the ’90s, this video really hits home when our piece of discarded trash is finally revealed and seen to be worshipped by a throng of misguided revelers.
