Sassy 009 returns with a new video for the track “Thrasher” off the upcoming LP Utopia due out this fall via Luft. The Norwegian-based electronic project, formerly a trio that included Teodora Georgijevic and Johanna Scheie Orellana, is now Sunniva Lindgaard‘s solo project. The artist explains, “I must say working by myself feels very natural.”
Utopia is inspired by the artist’s “existential thoughts” regarding the universe, as well as her fascination with “spaceship aesthetics.” Additionally, working with synths like the Roland Juno 106 and Oberheim-OB6 helped to fill out the record’s cosmic aesthetic. Lindgaard says:
“My vision was to create my own spaceship…plus, my co-producer Baya’s studio sort of feels like a spaceship itself, which made the whole working and recording environment inspiring and easy-going.”
“Thrasher” maximizes sonic tension with a beguiling production style that blends electronic genres effortlessly. Meanwhile, Lindgaard’s vocal prowess and thought-provoking lyrics take center stage as she morphs her approach with each changing soundscape. The video for the cut is directed by Andreas Bjřrseth, and he shot it using Kodak Motion Picture Film. The artist’s intimate portraits of solitary women are coupled with Lindgaard’s unnerving performance and must-see costuming by Alva Walderhaug Brosten.
