Function is readying the release of his Existenz LP via the Berlin-based label Tresor on November 29th. The project of longstanding New York techno producer and DJ David Sumner, the artist has been a member of the legendary Sandwell District collective since 2004, and he formed the Infrastructure label with Ed Davenport back in 1998. While Function has put out a slew of singles and EPs since that time, Existenz is only the artist’s second full-length–following up on his 2013 debut Incubation (Ostgut Ton) and his 2014 Hospital Records‘ collaboration with Vatican Shadow, Games Have Rules.
Recorded between 2016-2019, Existenz deals with issues related to “religion, sexuality, healing, and liberation.” The 4xLP also features collaborations with House legend Robert Owens. Below, you can watch a video teaser for the album that sources material from New York’s cable-television era of the ’80/’90s. After the embed, you will also find a list of all Function’s upcoming 2019 tour dates…
