Watch: HTRK “Venus in Leo”

HTRK recently released a video for “Venus in Leo,” the title track off the duo’s August 2019 LP out now on Ghostly International. Though the cut is minimal and starkly arranged, Nigel Yang‘s dreamy guitar melody provides shards of light thru the track’s breezy foliage. Meanwhile, singer Jonnine Standish implores, “Venus don’t you make me wait,” as she longs for a higher love.

The visuals find Nathan Corbin and Tony Lowe returning as directors. Having directed “Chinatown Style” together, Corbin is also responsible for the “Bendin” video off Work (work, work). Here, Yang and Standish appear in separate interludes that seem to depict states of isolation and introspection. Absorbed and unconnected, the pair’s separateness only adds to this song’s longing for a deeper connection.
