The noise duo Lightning Bolt returns with a wicked new track entitled “Hüsker Dön’t” off their upcoming LP Sonic Citadel due out October 11th via Thrill Jockey. Bassist Brian Gibson and drummer Brian Chippendale have been operating the project for twenty-five years now, and the upcoming record is the pair’s seventh full-length. Recorded with Seth Manchester at Machines With Magnets, Sonic Citadel finds the duo stripping away some layers of distortion from their sound while still maintaining the ferocious sonic attack associated with their live shows.
Discussing the cut, Chippendale explains:
“The lyrics are a sort of letter from beyond the grave to my son. I thought it would be a cool thing for him to discover later on. An Easter egg. Just a love letter.”
