Oiseaux-Tempête‘s new video for their track “Out Of Sight” is off the band’s October 2019 LP release From Somewhere Invisible out now on Sub Rosa. Directed by the group’s visual collaborators As Human Pattern (Grégoire Orio and Grégoire Couvert), the pair employ archival footage to evocative ends.
Images of scientists working, their instruments capturing the finer details of the physical world, combine with vacationing beach-goers to lend “Out Of Sight” a human element. But, before long, we’re left to wonder if the song’s title might not refer to the dormant powers of the physical world so easily forgotten until…they’re not. Hurricane-force winds and waves pound the once placid beaches while lava explodes and bubbles in dangerous flows. Meanwhile, people stare in awe and wonder at an eclipse–a once terrifying celestial event–reminding us to consider just what Mother Nature might have in store for us next.
Recorded at Montreal’s famed Hotel2Tango studio, From Somewhere Invisible finds core members Frédéric D. Oberland and Stéphane Pigneul joined by Jean-Michel Pires (Bruit Noir) and Mondkopf, as well as the Canadian musicians Radwan Ghazi Moumneh (Jerusalem In My Heart) and Jessica Moss (Thee Silver Mt. Zion). On “Out Of Sight,” the group casts a crepuscular spell. The album’s closer, its twilight vibe is accentuated by introspective keys and the eerie, Siren-call of ululating vocals.
While you’re at it, don’t miss the powerful lead single off of From Somewhere Invisible, “He Is Afraid And So Am I,” featuring spoken word vocals from G.W.Sok.
