The UK-based electronic producer patten has a new video for “Night Vision” off his September 2019 release FLEX out now via the artist’s multi-faceted creative agency 555-5555. The track matches white-knuckle tension with blistering beats to create a stark, dread-filled atmosphere, and the visuals follow suit with dizzying 3-D animation.

Featuring an assembled tableau arranged on a tiled table including a model of a human heart, apple, computer, Coke can, decorative screen panel, and a statue of a figure seemingly pulling a thorn from their foot, these sculptural elements float in a rarified atmosphere of wispy clouds and aquamarine sky. Meanwhile, a camera pans around the assemblage flying by the various objects as these random vantages begin to fill out this Idealized and frozen space. Like “Night Vision”‘s seated figure, we might find ourselves left to contemplate prickly issues about what is “real” in the “Age of the Hyper-Real,” but then again, patten’s music is the perfect soundtrack for such abstract speculations.
