LEYA is the experimental duo comprised of harpist/vocalist Marilu Donovan (Eartheater, Aerial East, Julie Byrne) and violinist/vocalist Adam Markiewicz (PC Worship, The Dreebs). The pair is currently readying their Flood Dream LP for release on March 6th via NNA Tapes. The follow-up to their 2018 debut The Fool (NNA), this upcoming effort was also preceded by their surprise drop of Angel Lust, a collaboration with Eartheater released on PAN this December, as well as a soundtrack to the PornHub-exclusive short film I Love You directed by Brooke Candy.

While Flood Dream finds LEYA continuing to collaborate with musicians like vocalist/producer GABI, flautist/synthesist John Also Bennett of Forma, and bassist Tristan Kasten-Krause, the album also finds the pair focusing more exclusively on composing together. On “Wave,” harp, strings, and operatic vocals set a spell-binding mood of majestic melancholy. The video for the track is self-directed by the duo, and they explain:

“The video features our two friends, disciples of 34th generation Shaolin warrior monk and activist Shi Yan Ming, founder of the luminous USA Shaolin Temple in Manhattan, where RZA, Rosie Perez, Wesley Snipes, Jim Jarmusch, and Tricky have all trained. They are part of the wave.”

Look for LEYA to launch a North American tour this coming March, including a record release show in Brooklyn with Eartheater and Chanel 63, as well as dates with Liturgy in April. Check out LEYA’s upcoming tour schedule after the YouTube embed below.
