Wilma Archer is the London-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Will Archer, who also makes music under the moniker Slime. The artist is currently readying his new LP A Western Circular for release on April 3rd via Domino. The label reports that the album will include vocal contributions from the artists MF DOOM, Samuel T. Herring (Future Islands), Sudan Archives, and Laura Groves.
The track “Last Sniff” features MF DOOM. Archer’s simmering bed of disco-inflected strings and percussion set the mood here while Doom’s laconic vocal style beams out in heady rhymes. The video for the track was created by the animator Jesse Collett. Combining nocturnal vignettes with images from a not very distant wilderness, a man dreams in bed through the night. Meanwhile, lonely humans wait on empty streets or drink away their cares while a single bird and a bee seem to lead similarly lonely and isolated existences.
