The Greek art and music collective The Callas have a new video for their track “The Same River Twice.” The cut is off the group’s standout 2018 album with Lee Renaldo, Trouble and Desire. Combining the hypnotic pulse of psych with post-punk’s urgency, the record produced one of our favorite tracks of that year, “Acid Books.”
On January 24th, Dirty Water Records will release a deluxe reissue of the album featuring three new tracks. In celebration, The Callas have released a video for “The Same River Twice,” which was also the name of their 2019 art show curated by Margot Norton and Natalie Bell at the New Museum in New York and Deste Foundation in Athens. Simmering with throbbing low end and a motorik rhythm, the track is coupled here with colorful and abstract images of running water. They might have called Heraclitus “The Obscure” back in his day, but he was pretty clear when he said that you can’t step in the same river twice. Or can you?
If you live in Athens, don’t miss The Callas record release show on Saturday, January 25th at Temple with Post Lovers also on the bill that night. For more info follow this Facebook Events link.
