Tukico is the Japanese violinist, composer, and electronic producer Hoshiko Yamane, and today we check out her new video for the track “When The Time Comes.” Based out of Berlin and a member of Tangerine Dream since 2011, the musician is currently readying her solo EP become for digital and cassette release this February via the Seattle label Hush Hush Records. The video for the track was created by the liquid light artist Atsushi Harata.
The upcoming 5-track effort was recorded last February during a particularly stormy winter in Berlin. With plenty of time to read Haruki Murakami’s novel Kafka On The Shore, the source for all the EP’s track titles, Yamane also had time to experiment with the Moog Mother 32 synthesizer she had acquired. Using the electronic instrument to fill out her violin compositions, the artist soon found herself breaking new creative ground.
“When The Time Comes” is a rousing cut filled with timeless beauty. Slow building strings combine with the Moog’s hypnotic pulse making for a composition that combines Yamane’s classical training with her instincts as an electronic producer. With these more contemporary elements providing a gentle underpinning, the musician’s soaring violin provides plenty of emotional detail. Atushi Harata’s liquid light video provides the perfect backdrop here as viscous liquids blossom into vivid corpuscles of interpenetrating fluid.
