JG Thirlwell and Simon Steensland have a new track entitled “Papal Stain” from their upcoming LP Oscillospira due out on April 24th via Ipecac Recordings. News of the project first launched back in February with the track “Heron.” The duo follows up with what they are calling a “cinematic journey that vacillates wildly in mood before its tumultuous climax.”
Thirlwell and Steensland also report that “Papal Stain” finds them “playing many instruments between them.” In addition, they are joined by drummer Morgan Ågren (Mats/Morgan band, Zappa, Devin Townsend), guitarist Simon Hanes (Tredici Bacci), trombonist Chris McIntyre (Tilt Brass, Either/Or, SEM Ensemble), and violinist Joanna Mattrey (Tredici Bacci).
