Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith has released a new track entitled “Becoming Ferromagnetic” off her upcoming LP The Mosaic of Transformation due out on May 15th via Ghostly International. The cut debuted today as part of Amazon Original and it is currently available for streaming and purchase from their music service. The song is also currently featured on the Amazon Music playlist The Future Is Female, celebrating Women’s History Month and #IWD2020.
“Becoming Ferromagnetic” follows up on The Mosaic of Transformation‘s lead single “Expanding Electricity” which came out earlier this month. At the time, she explained that the album was a celebration of her love for electricity and that in recording the album she had developed a parallel “movement practice” as a way of conducting and transforming energy through her own physical expression and posture. “Becoming Ferromagnetic” continues this thematic with a title that suggests the magnetic attraction between bodies is further evidence of electricities’ beauty. In addition to the new song, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith joins a growing list of artists streaming intimate live sets online in response to COVID-19 and the temporary cancellation of performance events. The musician will play a special live streaming set this Sunday night at 7pm PST / 10pm EST via Sofa King.
