Lithics have a new video this month for their track “Hands” off the band’s upcoming LP Tower of Age due out June 1st via Trouble In Mind. The Portland-based four-piece are experts at a terse and minimalist brand of post-punk. Essentialized expression is at the forefront of everything they do.
On “Hands,” vivid guitar lines and hypnotic bass circle around plain-spoken drum rhythms while Aubrey Hornor‘s Imagist-style lyrics place each word perfectly. Well-ordered right angles are the result until explosions of sonic noise threaten to topple their tightly knit structure.
The video for the track is directed by Christie MacLean. Filmed at Desert Christ Park in the Yucca Valley, the area’s stark landscape and “snow white” sculptors are the perfect backdrop. The visuals find the band performing in tight quarters while also following Hornor around the grounds.
