Ben Lukas Boysen has shared a new track entitled “Medela” off the Berlin-based producer’s upcoming LP Mirage due out May 1st via Erased Tapes. Also creating under the moniker Hecq, the upcoming full-length is the musician’s third release under his own name. The follow-up to Boysen’s 2016 LP Spells, this newest offering transposes the visual experience of mirage into the auditory realm.
Mirage finds Boysen working with longtime collaborators and labelmates, the cellist Anne Müller and saxophonist Daniel Thorne. Often combining acoustic elements with electro-, nothing is as it seems here. The musician explains:
“A lot of the elements and instruments you hear on the album are either not what you think they are, or exactly what you think they are but behave differently or they’re elements you definitely know but they are hidden, processed, or morphed into something else. With Spells and Gravity, I was trying to hide the machines. On Mirage, I’m trying to hide the human.”
