If life gives you lemonade, drink beer! And lots of it. When New Zealand Cavemen JackĀ andĀ Nick found themselves marooned in a sleazy flat in Alicante, Spain due to COVID lockdown this past March, they formed the deleterious duo Sin City and vowed that day drinking would not get in the way of home recording 13 new tracks. With enough beer, gin, rum, red wine and hamburgers to stone an elephant, the pair got down to work using a lone mic, acoustic guitar, electric piano, and tambourine recording their self-titled debut in two sodden weeks.
Professing a love for Mink Deville, Gram Parsons, Glen Campbell, Phil Spector, and Van Morrison, this is “dad rock” if your dad was a deadbeat reprobate serving five years on a felony charge. Below you can watch the Sin City video for “Hold On Little Girl.” The squalor of isolation suits the boys quite well, and rumor has it they’re already working on a follow-up. If you want to support Jack and Nick in their efforts please send booze, drugs, and burgers to this address.
While you’re at it, don’t miss “Cooking With Cavemen.” While the lads excel at drinking and music making, it seems they also know they’re way around the kitchen. Watch as they whip up a semen basted bird in beer gravy with assorted winter vegetables. Don’t worry, you won’t find this one on PornHub.
