Demian Licht has a new track entitled “Instinto” from her upcoming Die Kraft LP due out July 10th via Motus Records. The Mexico/Berlin-based producer debuted in 2016 with her Female Criminals trilogy as well as her cinematic multi-media performances. Promoting equality and diversity in dance culture with fellow artists Female:Pressure and Discwoman, Licht is also the only female Ableton Certified Trainer in Latin America!
Credentials aside, Licht makes searing techno. Discussing the upcoming effort, we are told:
“Die Kraft’ is the soundtrack of a female ceremony, a unified dance among light/darkness, fragility/strength, femininity/masculinity where cultures, symbols, and languages join together and translate each other — German, Aztec, Mexican, Greek, Latin.”
“Instinto” expertly exudes that aesthetic. One of Licht’s gifts as a producer is her ability to create a singular sonic space for her music to exist in. Here, the surrounding atmosphere is as insular as the magick circle drawn to define a ritual space in ceremony. Compressed by the artist’s singular intent, she then allows the female/male principles she conjures to resolve themselves in fascinating displays of energetic interchange. Light and dark, space and form find their place and coexist on this riveting track.
