Sergio Calderón and Céli Lee are back this week with a double single from their upcoming LP The Eternal Dice due out June 26th via Entertaining Violence. “Untrue” and “April” are also accompanied by a pair of lyric videos directed by the duo. Much like the album’s lead single, “Midnight Song,” these new tracks smolder with a late-night intimacy.
Calderón’s plangent guitar sets a crepuscular mood, and it is the perfect atmosphere for Lee’s almost whispered revelations. With the videos providing text, the impact of these lyrics increases as they double with the plain-sung vocals. Meanwhile, a bed of sumptuous visuals accompanies both outings with “Untrue” featuring a watery, jeweled background, and “April,” a neon, sea shell-like opulence.
