Exhalants return with a second single from their upcoming sophomore LP Atonement due out September 11th via Hex Records. Following up on the “coiled tension and explosive force” of the album’s lead single “Bang,” the Austin-based noise-rock trio is back with the punishing maelstrom “Blackened.” Capable of dealing out a corrosive sonic assault, what makes Exhalants stand out is their ability to combine light and dark forces into a titanic storm of sound. On “Blackened,” rust scoured melody wars with aphotic low-end and pummeling rhythm while guitarist/vocalist Steve Pike spits his angst into the gnarly tangle.
