GHXST have a new track entitled “P.U.R.R” from their upcoming EP “Dark Days” due out November 16th. The duo of Christopher James and Shelley X report that they wrote and recorded the album between New York and California, and that it was mixed by their longtime collaborator UK producer James Aparicio (Nick Cave, Grinderman, Spiritualized).
Speaking to “P.U.R.R”‘s thundering approach, the duo explains, “We built the beats to sound like an 808 booming out of a Cadillac window in Bed Stuy,” the Brooklyn neighborhood where the pair normally resides. Massive, down-turned guitars set the doom-laden mood here. Bathed in a sort of spectral fuzz, the track’s massive wall of sound has a dreamy texture to it, with Shelley X’s echoing vocals adding a narcotic shimmer.
