Kazumichi Komatsu has a new lyric video for his track “Umi Ga Kikoeru feat. Dove & Le Makeup,” the second single from the Japanese producer’s upcoming release Emboss Star due out November 11th via FLAU Records. Based out of Kyoto, and also operating under the moniker Madegg, this will be the first effort under his own name. Four years in the making and meticulously constructed, the upcoming LP is an exploration of the nature of sound that combines warped dream pop and disintegrating electronics into ambient reverie.
“Umi Ga Kikoeru feat. Dove & Le Makeup” is lush and introspective while also interrupting those expectations to make for a sound experience that is reflective of the sensory overload we experience in everyday reality. Intertwining vocal takes shift the song’s perspective into competing views as a soaring melody struggles for acoustic prominence next to the song’s strident voices. Meanwhile, blasts of noise and found sound burst onto the scene in an unsettling psychic barrage that seems to echo the way sensory data accosts our perceptions as they war for attention moment to moment.
