Nadia Khan is readying her mini-LP Port Ana for release on November 27th via Scissor and Thread. On the upcoming effort, the North Carolina-based producer creates an introspective brand of electronic music that sublimely bridges the gap between House and Ambient. Comprised of four original tracks, Port Ana also includes two remixes from Dial label cofounder Lawrence, with the second remix included only on the digital version of the release.
Khan crafts ethereal soundscapes that loop with a kinetic throb. Tracks like the album’s self-titled opener, “Objects In Form,” or “Rain Again” use simmering ambiance, cascading chords, and rippling pulses to add texture to her contemplative atmospheres. Additionally, “Conversation” throbs with a shadowy kick while Lawrence works “Rain Again” into a pulsating midnight groove to round out this effort’s dance floor inflected mood.
