Ductape “Hata”

Ductape is a post-punk duo from Istanbul, Turkey. This month, the pair returns with a new video for their track “Hata” off the project’s debut LP LABIRENT (Labyrinth). The band released their “Little Monsters” EP this past June after recording it during the lockdown. With momentum from this first effort propelling them forward, LABIRENT is an 8-track long-player featuring two songs sung in Turkish.

Hata” translates as error, and the track definitely takes some dark turns as guitar and synth trace a downward spiral. Meanwhile, vocalist Çağla Güleray narrates in somber tones as warm washes of low-end bolster the song’s melancholy feel. The video for the song was edited by Güleray. Shot against the backdrop of crumbling buildings along a desolate seashore, the visuals echo this song’s longing.
