Gängstgäng is readying the release of their Primitive Rap and Shamanic Dirty Sabotage from Swiss Jura LP as a limited edition vinyl 12″ out via Jelodanti Records on January 30th. The duo is comprised of Pascal Lopinat on drums and visual artist Augustin Rebetez on vocals, and their upcoming 10-track effort was composed between Buenos Aires and the pair’s home in the Swiss countryside. Combining brash attitude, noisy production style, and cryptic delivery, Gängstgäng’s experimental take on rap is only heightened by their surreal approach.
On “Livraison de rapaces,” Rebetez combines mumbled incantation and acerbic delivery to cast a dark spell. Meanwhile, hypnotic drum and bell add a ritual-like quality as the duo summons their other-worldly forces. The video for the track finds the pair in an abandoned cinder block building. Animated by the track’s haunting rhythm and anxious delivery, their bodies seem to twitch and flail under this track’s urgent spell.
