Field Works returns with “Ḥalaqah’ Azaliyyah,” a new track from his upcoming album Cedars due out March 5th on Temporary Residence Ltd. The collaborative and interdisciplinary project of Stuart Hyatt, Field Works finds him at the “intersection of Art, Music, and Science.” His newest effort is inspired by ancient forests and explores the delicate balance between nature and culture. The dual-language release combines Arabic and English poetry with electro-acoustic compositions that use pedal steel, banjo, oud, and hurdy-gurdy.

Cedars is narrated by Youmna Saba and H.C. McEntire. It includes musical contributions from Marisa AndersonFadi TabbalDena El SaffarDanny Paul GrodyBob HoffnarTomás LozanoNathan BowlesAlex Roldan, Youmna Saba, as well as Stuart Hyatt. The album will also include a full-color Risograph comic book from illustrator María Medem with design packaging from PRINTtEXT.

“Ḥalaqah’ Azaliyyah” glows with gentle radiance as ascending atmosphere and strummed guitar meet Youmna Saba’s spoken and sung vocals. Though composed from delicate layers of sound and voice, one can’t help feeling this track more closely exudes the quality of light. Like an Impressionistic landscape painting, but made from sound, “Ḥalaqah’ Azaliyyah” transmits soothing warmth as waves of pedal-steel and electronics meet Saba’s effulgent delivery.
