Geneva Jacuzzi “Nonsense Nonsense”

Tomorrow Geneva Jacuzzi will reissue her 2010 album Lamaze via Mexican Summer. In anticipation, the multi-media artist continues her roll-out of vintage videos from the time period with this new offering for “Nonsense Nonsense.” Compiled by Jacuzzi from archival footage, she stars here in multiple guises as VHS-damaged images combine with her ’80s Goth meets Day-Glo aesthetic.

Lamaze was Geneva Jacuzzi’s debut label effort. Initially released on the Vinyl International, the album collected together analog 4-track and 8-track recordings the artist made between 2004-2009. Mostly out of print since its initial release, original copies of Lamaze have been known to fetch a hefty price in the years since.

As Jacuzzi readies the reissue, she has also taken time to share with BrooklynVegan her top ten influences for the album, things like Philip K DickMarcel Duchamp, and the zombie/shark fight scene in Lucio Fulci’s Zombie 2 can be found on the list. Additionally, she recently interviewed one of her own musical influences, Kevin Haskins, of Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, Tones on Tail, etc. You can read their discussion over at Talkhouse.

While you’re at it, don’t miss the Lamaze videos for “Clothes on the Bed,” “Do I Sad?” and “Love Caboose.”
