The Grammy-nominated vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Georgia Anne Muldrow is readying the third installment release from her hip hop beat series, VWETO III. Due out May 21st via the Toronto-based black-owned record label FORESEEN Entertainment, as well as her imprint Epistrophik Peach Sound, Muldrow explains:

“VWETO III is intended for movement. It’s to be played when you birth yourself back outside after a long introspective period to get the things you need. It intends for you to be your own superhero and wants to be your theme for power.”

Additionally, a one-off NFT of the album artwork, created by the Cape Town-based artist Breeze Yoko, will also be available for sale on OpenSea and Rarible. 50% of the proceeds from the sale of the artwork will be donated to the charity Critical Resistance, an international initiative to end the prison industrial complex.

Georgia Anne Muldrow is also seeking collaborators for her upcoming work. Offering a Call to Action for visual artists, vocalists, dancers, and DJ/producers, the musician will release four singles between now and June. Each will come with a request for specific contributions. Muldrow emphasizes that this not a competition but an opportunity for her to interact with communities of artists. The entries will be shared via her Instagram page, and creators will be asked to story or post videos of their submissions with the hashtag #VWETOIII and tag @ Georgia. Muldrow and @ Foreseenent, who’ll re-story the entries, giving participants further exposure.

Today, Georgia released VWETO III’s first single, “Mufaro’s Garden,” with a call to visual artists for their portrayal of the song. The track was initially inspired by the folktale book Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters, illustrated by John Steptoe. Muldrow offers,

“There’s a frame in that book that’s so amazing, of Mufaro looking over his garden which joins with the rest of the land, and in the far distance, you can see the historic sight of Great Zimbabwe. I remember as a child spending hours just looking at this picture, wishing I could go there.”

You can listen to the track below. While you’re at it, don’t miss the musician’s live chat today with Native Instruments “Real Talk” at 1PM LA / 4PM NY / 8PM UK.
