Johnny Mafia is back with a new video for “Trevor Philippe,” off their upcoming LP Sentimental due out May 21st on Howlin’ Banana Records. The group hails from Sens, France, and active since 2010, we last heard from them with their track “Big Brawl,” off the sophomore effort Princes de l’Amour out on Dirty Water Records. While that album was recorded by Jim Diamond (The White Stripes, the Fleshtones, The Sonics), on Sentimental Johnny Mafia turned to local French producer Kris Banel.
“Trevor Philippe” finds the band building on their garage rock roots with a revved-up anthem full of infectious hooks and shout along choruses. The video for the cut was directed by Nathan Bouam, who also did the honors on the mega-creepy visuals for “Big Brawl.” This time the band exchanges their late night goth-fight-to-the-death with a mellow day party filled with target shooting, cannon balls into the pond, and plenty of grilled sausage!
