Don Zilla returns with a fantastic video for “Bujingo” off his upcoming LP Ekizikiza Mubwengula, due out June 18th via Nyege Nyege Tapes‘ Hakuna Kulala label. The East African-based producer and manager of Uganda’s Boutiq Studios made a name for himself with the release of his 2019 2-track EP “From the Cave to the World.” On his upcoming LP, he continues to carve out a wicked brand of future-forward club music.
“Bujingo” is cavernous and bass-driven as eerie atmosphere combines with a disorienting barrage of tribal rhythm. The video for the track was created by the artist Dyllan Zain in collaboration with Don Zilla, and the No Bounds Festival commissioned it. Working from the producer’s aphotic palette and ritualized percussion, the animated visuals point to a techno-pagan future where strange party-goers dance beneath giant psychedelic mushrooms and banks of glowing neon.
