When we last heard from Sin City in 2020, the New Zealand duo was still quarantining in a sleazy flat in Alicante, Spain, due to COVID lockdown. Making the most of their booze-soaked isolation, Nick Armstrong and Jack Beesley home-recorded their 13-track self-titled debut, a drunken country-blues escapade, before following it up only several months later with Sin City or Bust.
The pair have now returned to their home island, commandeered a five-piece live band, and headed into the studio with legendary Kiwi crooner Delaney Davidson taking charge of production. While the fiddle and pedal-steel fruits of that labor won’t be available until 2022 via 1:12 Records, the boys give us a little taste of what they have cookin’ up on “Things I Left Behind.” Proving you can forget your wallet in Hamburg, Germany, and your silver ring in Helsinki, you’ll never forget where you left your heart.
