GLITCH is post-punk trio hailing from Marseillaise, France. The band’s limited edition cassette “Lanterns” is out now via the French label Ganache Records. While you might be too late to grab a physical copy of this new micro-release, you can always download the four-song EP via the label’s Bandcamp page. Digging around on the internet for more info on the group only seemed to turn up 5xx Server Errors. So, here is what we know…
Evan Oddone is the group’s vocalist, lyricist, and one of its guitarists alongside fellow player Laureline Picollo, with Mattéo Guinde on drums. The trio plays an explosive mix of propulsive post-punk with dreamier Goth and shoegaze elements threaded throughout. At times tightly wound and angst-filled, like the nerve-wracked cut “Myst,” it’s the band’s ability to switch registers into looser and more expansive passages, such as on the closing track “Hunter,” that reveals GLITCH as potent songwriters capable of emotive and dynamic range.
